Franklin Templeton has hired Jin Mei to lead its wholly foreign-owned enterprise (WFOE) for China. Mei will be based in Shanghai as the global investment firm looks to boost its capabilities in the country.
Mei position as head of the WFOE is newly created. His core responsibilities include growing Franklin Templeton’s presence and developing opportunities for business growth in mainland China.
Mei has more than 14 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Franklin Templeton, Mei served as the chief China representative for Natixis Investment Managers.
David Chang, chief executive and head for Greater China at Franklin Templeton identified China as an important growth market as the country opens up to foreign investors.
In December 2018, Franklin Templeton announced the Shanghai-based appointment of Jason Zhu Guoqing and director of portfolio management for China. Guoqing joined Franklin Templeton from Fullteron Fund Management.
Franklin Templeton said it had $714 billion in assets under management as of February 28, 2019.
