Philippe Benoît will replace Lawrence Au as head of BNP Paribas Securities Services in the Asia Pacific region, based in Hong Kong.
The asset servicing firm, which has its headquarters in France, says its assets under custody in the Asia Pacific area have more than tripled in the past five years. It is present in eight markets and employs 2,000 people in the region.
Au, who is leaving his position as a precursor to retirement, will stay on with the firm as an executive adviser. He will continue to oversee some client relationships and act as an executive sponsor for projects in Greater China.
Benoît, who joined the firm in 2002, was most recently global head of finance, legal and asset-liability-management treasury, based in Paris.
Eric Raynaud, chief executive of BNP Paribas in the Asia-Pacific region, praised Au for building a successful franchise in the past half decade.
