US fund manager Capital Group has launched a fund investing in companies around the world that pay dividends and offer attractive growth prospects.
The Luxembourg-domiciled Ucits fund, Capital Group World Growth and Income (LUX), targets investors in Asia and Europe. It is based on and managed by the same investment team for the Capital World Growth and Income (WGI) strategy in the US, which was launched in 1993.
According to the firm – which has $1.9 trillion in assets under management – the fund addresses key challenges, such as slowing global growth and increased volatility.
“As part of Capital Group’s plans to continue building its Luxembourg fund range and introduce time-tested strategies that have proven successful in the US to investors in Asia, we have launched Capital Group World Growth and Income (LUX),” said Andy Budden, investment director at Capital Group.
“The WGI strategy has been designed for investors who want to participate in the dynamism of global equity markets, but who have struggled to find a balance between capturing growth opportunities while maintaining some downside protection.
“In today’s market environment, the WGI strategy also addresses investors’ concerns of slowing global growth, increased volatility and flattening interest rates,” added Budden.
The WGI strategy has seven portfolio managers who are all personally invested in the fund. A portion of the portfolio’s assets is managed by research analysts.
Last month the firm announced the
appointment of Alton Gwee as a senior investment product specialist for the Asia Pacific region. Gwee is based in Singapore in the newly created position and reports to Matthew Dresch, investment product services senior manager, London.
