Pimco Prime Real Estate, the property arm of German insurer Allianz, has named Hiroyuki Mochizuki as country head for Japan.
Based in Tokyo, he will report to Scott Kim, Pimco Prime’s head of Asia Pacific.
He succeeds Daisuke Noguchi, who served as head of Japan until April 2023 before leaving to take up a role with Hong Kong-based apartment rental firm Weave Living.
His departure came just after the firm rebranded from Allianz Real Estate to its current name.
Mochizuki was most an recently alternative investment director at Japan’s government pension investment fund.
Prior to that, he spent 17 years at Japanese property developer Mitsui Fudosan.
Mochizuki is one of the several hires involving Japanese firms. Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management has hired Alex Barry as its head of distribution for the UK and Ireland.
Meanwhile, German asset manager Patrizia has named Masami Takizawa and Thomas Hirschvogel as co-heads for Japan.
