UBS hires ex-Calastone exec in Hong Kong

UBS_buildingUBS Asset Management has hired Sebastien Chaker as head of sales for its Fondcenter platform in Hong Kong. Chaker, who was responsible for setting up the Asian business for fund transaction network Calastone, is tasked with expanding the Fondcenter platform in the region. “The modular nature of UBS's offering means fund distributors can tailor services to their needs by combining fund research, legal agreement management and calculation of trailer fees for over 400 fund providers with mutual funds, ETFs [exchange-traded funds] and hedge fund execution and custody services covering over 60,000 funds,” said Chaker. Through Fondcenter, UBS services banks and fund managers in Asia. The platform can assist distributors in offering a wide range of third-party funds by relying on fund execution and custody services provided by UBS. Chaker has spent more than 20 years in the fund distribution and servicing sector at companies including Citibank, Euroclear and Brown Brothers Harriman. ©2018 funds global asia
