Daisy Ho, former president of Fidelity’s China business, has been appointed as HSBC Asset Management’s CEO for Asia Pacific and Hong Kong.
She replaces Pedro Bastros who will assume the newly created role of chief investment officer, international markets and Asia strategist.
Ho will be responsible for building the firm’s market share in the region, notably in Hong Kong, mainland China and India.
Prior to joining Fidelity in 2005, Ho worked for JP Morgan, Axa and Hang Seng Bank.
In 2020, the global bank pointedly stated that it would focus on the Asian market rather than Europe and North America.
It moved four senior bankers from London to Hong Kong, including Nicolas Moreau, head of global asset management.
