Apac asset owners more concerned about inflation, says survey

Inflation compassInstitutional investors and asset owners in Asia Pacific are more concerned about the impact of inflation than their global peers, according to recently published research. The EQuilibrium Global Institutional Study conducted by fund manager Nuveen found that 74% of Apac public pensions and insurance companies believe there needs to be a complete rethink of portfolio construction strategies in order to deal with the challenges of inflation, market volatility, climate change and growing social inequality. This compares to a global average of 64%. The survey also found that Apac asset owners are more likely to implement inflation mitigation changes, as high as 84% among pubic and government pension plans, and are also more likely to address climate risks than their peers. In addition, Apac asset owners are also taking the lead on then use of diversity and metrics in their manager selection process, 67% compared to a global average of 54%. The study surveyed 700 investors and 100 consultants spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific region in October and November 2021. © 2022 funds global asia
