US fund manager, Vanguard, has unveiled Scott Conking as the head of Asia.
The veteran will move to Hong Kong, where the role is based. Conking will take on the responsibility from Axel Lomholt, who has been serving as the interim head of Asia after Charles Lin stepped down from the role. Lomholt will continue to play a strategic role and report to Conking.
As part of the role, Conking will oversee Vanguard’s offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo.
Conking is a seasoned industry veteran and has been with Vanguard since 1984. He will report to James Norris, head of international operations at the firm.
Norris welcomed Conking’s experience to the region, saying he “is uniquely qualified to lead the next chapter of our growth in Asia, and further our mission of giving investors the best chance for investment success.”
Globally, the firm manages $6.2 trillion of assets as of January 2020.
