US asset manager Franklin Templeton has launched its first mutual fund in Indonesia after teaming up with a local investment manager, Bahana TCW.
The Bahana UIS Opportunity Sharia Equity USD Fund is shariah-compliant and will focus on mostly US companies with added ESG attributes.
The key sectors will be technology, healthcare, financials and consumer discretionary.
The investment strategy will be managed by ClearBridge Investment, a specialist investment manager owned by Franklin Templeton, with Mary McQuillen and Derek Deutsch appointed as portfolio managers. Distribution will be managed by Bank DBS Indonesia.
“Bahana TCW sees a growing interest from Indonesian investors to invest in global technology and healthcare companies,” said Rukmi Proborini, president director of Bahana TCW.
