Butterfield, a bank and wealth manager based in Bermuda, has hired Brian Balleine to lead its Singapore office as regional head of Asia.
The company established a licensed trust company in Singapore as part of its acquisition of Deutsche Bank Global Trust Solutions, announced in October of last year. Balleine, previously managing director of Butterfield Trust in the Cayman Islands, will relocate to Asia.
“With his knowledge of the wider Butterfield Group and of clients in the Asia region, Brian is the ideal person to lead our Singapore office, with the aim of developing new business across Asia,” said Bob Moore, executive vice president and head of group trust.
Nick Harwood, the former head of Deutsche Bank's trust team in Singapore, will take on the role of director of client services at the Singapore office, aided by Yang Ping Tang, also from Deutsche Bank, who will be vice president of client services. Hannah Bisson will move from Butterfield's office in Jersey to become manager of trust services.
Set up in 1858, the firm is known officially as the Bank of N. T. Butterfield & Son.
