Dr Raphael Arndt has been promoted to chief executive of Australia’s Future Fund.
Having previously served as the chief investment officer of the A$162 billion sovereign wealth fund (US$105 billion), Arndt’s appointment comes after a global search process and “the completion of the necessary Australian Public Service requirements,” Future Fund said in a statement.
Arndt’s appointment will be effective from July 1, 2020 and Cameron Price, who has served as acting chief executive since March, will continue to do so until then.
Arndt joined the sovereign wealth fund in 2008 and served as the Future Fund’s head of infrastructure and timberland. He went on to become the chief investment officer in September 2014 – a position he has held until his recent promotion.
The Future Fund said it will begin the process of appointing Arndt’s successor as chief investment officer “in due course”.
